Each accredited institution is approved by the CAZA Board and fulfills the CAZA Code of Professional Ethics. Certification is granted once a thorough inspection is made of the facility examining all facets of the institution, such as animal health, public safety and conservation/education programs. Jungle Cat World is involved with the captive breeding and management of threatened and endangered species, working with and supporting a variety of Species Survival Plans (SSP) and Population Management Plans (PMP). Animals include the rare Amur leopards (Panthera pardus orientalis), Snow leopards (Uncia uncia) and Ocelots (Leopardus pardalis). Jungle Cat World is listed with the Canadian Wildlife Service to assist them in the enforcement of the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). It also offers refuge to animals that have been confiscated by the Canadian government due to illegal ownership and practices. |
